This Cookie Policy explains which cookies vitciobanu.eu (“this website”, including the blog at vitciobanu.eu/blog) uses, why, and how you can control them. It complements the Privacy Policy.

In accordance with article 22.2 of Spanish Law 34/2002 on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (LSSI-CE), this website only uses cookies that are not strictly necessary after you accept them in the cookie banner.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let the site, or a service it uses, recognise your browser on later visits. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, are covered here too.

Types of cookies this website uses

This website sets no technical cookies. The only strictly necessary item is your Accept or Decline choice, saved in your browser’s local storage under the key analytics-consent so the banner doesn’t ask again on every page. It is not a cookie, it contains no personal data, it is never sent to this website or anyone else, and it stays until you clear your browser data.

This website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand, in an aggregated and anonymous way, how the site is used. These cookies are set only after you click “Accept” in the cookie banner. If you click “Decline”, none are set.

They are first-party cookies (stored on the vitciobanu.eu domain), but the data they collect is processed by Google on its servers.

CookieProviderPurposeDuration
_gaGoogleAssigns a random, anonymous ID to tell new and returning visitors apart2 years, renewed on each visit (some browsers cap it, e.g. Chrome at 400 days)
_ga_BHWHPSDVK2GoogleKeeps the state of your visit: pages viewed, time on page, traffic source2 years, renewed on each visit

They are used only to see which content is useful and to improve the site. They are never used for advertising or to identify you personally. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what Google Analytics records.

Third-party cookies from embedded content

Some blog posts embed content from other services:

  • YouTube videos (Google),
  • Relive activity maps on some hiking and running posts.

When a page with one of these embeds loads, the content comes directly from YouTube or Relive, and those providers may set their own cookies. This website does not control them and they do not depend on your choice in the banner. They are governed by each provider’s policy:

To avoid them, use a browser or extension that blocks third-party cookies.

Analytics cookies are used on the basis of your express consent (article 6.1.a of the GDPR and article 22.2 of the LSSI-CE). You can withdraw it at any time, and the website works exactly the same whether you accept or decline.

International data transfers

Google Analytics data is processed by Google, including Google LLC in the United States. These transfers are covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, to which Google is certified.

How to change or withdraw your choice

  • On this website: click “Cookie settings” in the footer at any time. The banner opens again, and choosing “Decline” deletes the analytics cookies.
  • On all websites: install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on.
  • In your browser: you can see, block or delete cookies in its settings: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.

Changes to this policy

If the cookies used by this website change, this page will be updated and its version and date below will change.

  • Version 1.0, 16 October 2026: first version.
